The Music Department at Colonel Gray High School hosts a craft fair each year for the community. Local craft makers and artisans can sell their wares as the city of Charlottetown celebrates the start of the holiday season. The fair is staffed entirely by students doing jobs such as admissions, security, and hospitality. Students who work at the craft fair get renumerated in credits towards band trips later in the year.
In coordination with the Music Department, I created a web application to help in the scheduling. The website allowed students to log in with their credentials, book time slots, and automatically see their earnings towards future trips. It also included an administrator interface to manage student profiles, create and update different jobs, and export summaries in a variety of formats. It was written in PHP using a MySQL database.
It’s still being used to this day!
